Traffic Tickets

Traffic Ticket Defense Lawyers in Mineola

Serving Nassau County, Suffolk County & New York City

To effectively defend a traffic case, you need an attorney who is experienced in handling these types of matters. Success depends on preparation at all stages of the case, from negotiation through trial. Often however, trials and the uncertainty of the outcome can be avoided since we are able to negotiate with prosecutors to dismiss tickets and reduce others to a lesser charge with fewer or no points.

However, if we are unable to negotiate a favorable disposition, we have the experience to take your case to trial when necessary. Many police officers have extensive experience testifying in court and as such are like expert witnesses. The attorneys at Grizopoulos & Portz, PC are experienced trial attorneys, skilled cross-examiners and are effective at challenging police testimony.

The attorneys at Grizopoulos & Portz, PC handle traffic tickets in Nassau County Traffic Violation Bureau, Suffolk County Traffic Violation Bureau, the local village courts, upstate courts, Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, and Bronx Traffic Violations Bureaus.

We commonly handle the following traffic tickets and many more:

  • Speeding
  • Driving with Suspended/Revoked License
  • Driving with Suspended Registration
  • Operating a Motor Vehicle without Insurance
  • Reckless Driving
  • Cellphone tickets
  • No Seatbelt
  • Failing to stop at stop sign
  • Red light violations
  • Tailgating
  • Leaving the Scene of an Accident
  • Failing to Signal Lane Change
  • Failing to Yield to Emergency Vehicle
  • Failure to Obey Traffic Control Device
  • Texting While Driving- Using mobile device while driving

Traffic tickets are not as simple as they may seem. Most cases do not simply end with a plea of guilty and a fine. Many tickets carry Department of Motor Vehicle Points on your license which can result in higher insurance premiums. Depending on how many points are assessed, the DMV may SUSPEND or REVOKE YOUR LICENSE. You need an experienced traffic attorney to handle your case.

Call the law office of Grizopoulos & Portz, P.C. at (516) 908-8833 to discuss the impact of points on your license, how long those points remain on your license and if they will be considered by insurance companies for the purpose of insurance rate assessments.

How Our Mineola Traffic Ticket Lawyers Can Help

Our attorneys have access to the New York State DMV computer system and can run your driving record directly from our office. We can advise you within minutes of the status of your license and how to resolve any suspension/revocations.

All traffic tickets in New York City and those issued outside most of the Villages in Suffolk County are returnable to the DMV-Traffic Violations Bureau. While these courts do not plea bargain traffic offenses, a skilled traffic attorney at Grizopoulos & Portz, P.C. can cross examine the officer and may be able to show the judge that the officer failed to prove their case by clear and convincing evidence.

  • You are convicted of an alcohol-related traffic violation; or
  • You are convicted of a drug-related traffic violation ; or
  • A hearing at the DMV determines that you refused a chemical test ; or
  • You receive six or more points on your New York State driving record during a period of 18 months
